Novice Duplicate Bridge Session to Begin in January

Dear Fellow Novice Bridge Players,

The Garden City Bridge Club is planning to begin a novice section which would run concurrently with its regular session on Fridays at 1pm beginning Friday, January 7. This would be an ongoing section as long as interest continues. A minimum of 10 players would be needed to run a sanctioned game.

The GCBC has been launching a sustained effort to attract new members. We have moved to a larger space to accommodate more players and in which we can make coffee and tea. There is an intermediate bridge class with supervised play being offered by Michael Boreson on Monday mornings at 9 a.m. beginning January 3. Many of our members have been teaching beginner, intermediate and advanced bridge through The Lifelong Learning Center at Dickinson School. We have noticed approximately a 25% increase in our table counts since moving and hope to continue to grow the club with more newbies. We have purchased new computer equipment and have just approved the purchase of a new dealing machine which will produce hand records to be evaluated at the end of play. These are invaluable to new members who are trying to improve their bidding and play of the hand.

We would so much love to have you join us. We meet at the Welcoma Club at 3108 S. Clark St. The novice section will run on Fridays at 1pm. Other duplicate sessions remain on Mondays at 1pm as well as Tuesday evenings at 7pm.

Feel free to contact me via email or by calling me at 721-7517. Let me know if you would like to play on Fridays or at any other time. I am happy to find you a partner if you need help with that. Brighten your winter afternoons by joining the fun crowd at GCBC.

All the best for a happy holiday season,

Beth Loehnen
